Many
states, including California, Arizona, Florida,
New Mexico and Texas, use asphalt rubber routinely, not
just to patch existing signs of wear-and-tear, but also
for major projects including highways, residential streets
and heavily used truck routes.
It is evident that the use of asphalt rubber on highways and city/subdivision roadways of the world, in airport runways and mall parking lots, is the wave of the future. This proven technology and application will eventually spread world-wide and will not only contribute to longer lasting, safer and more quiet vehicle surfaces but will provide a major incentive to recycle the unsightly and environmentally damaging piles of scrap tires that disfigure the landscape, and thus reuse a non-renewable natural resource.
AST, through its involvement
in this emerging industry, intends to vigorously and energetically
contribute to both the transfer of the technology to business
and governments of other countries and to the supply of
the necessary technology, equipment and engineering requirements
needed to make asphalt rubber technology a practical, economic and
environmentally friendly practice throughout the world.
In
August 2008, AST signed an exclusive representation agreement
with a company specializing in the manufacture of proprietary asphalt rubber blending and reaction systems in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
Under
the terms of the agreement, AST will utilize its European
sales and marketing infrastructure (which will be formed once an AST subsidiary is established in Germany during early 2009), to sell a wide range of asphalt rubber blending technology and products to the forefront of the European road building industry.
AST is an associate member
of the Arizona based Rubber Pavements Association (RPA)
and work in conjunction with the Association to educate
and promote the use and unique advantages of asphalt rubber in Europe and elsewhere around the world where
AST operates. In conjunction with the RPA we are pleased
to make available a video presentation of "Road to the
Future" a 12 minute audio/video covering the benefits,
the costs and production techniques associated with crumb
rubber modified asphalt paving.
Also,
via the AST parent company ARS, a full tire recycling vendor technology portfolio
can be provided to clients who wish to set up a full tire
recycling processing plant. Additional proprietary and patented
equipment for a university developed Revultec™
devulcanization technology is likewise available. ARS also provides development and production of
project design and feasibility programs.
